Cold Rainy Day

I had off of work today... it was cold and rainy, a good day to paint, and that I did. I
decided to make a few cards. While I painted I listened to an audio book, Christmas Carol , by Charles Dickens.... what a delightful morning that was..... but the best was yet to come....

Christina and lil John stopped by for a cup of tea, and that was perfect

for a cold rainy day....

A Day well spent!

Now it is all about texture

So now that the color is gone, the trees are bare and the grasses have changed to a rainbow of browns... Texture is the dominant theme...and I love texture.....
I see it everywhere now, weeds, trees grasses, birds nests... even the berries that decorate the dark branches....

Texture is one of the main elements in design... and now our landscape seems to be full of it .

You now can see the bare bones of trees and their wonderful shapes, I love the evergreens that seem to add lovely dark green to the gray landscape...

Take a walk and enjoy the textures, the variety is endless....

It is all about the Color!

Today was probably the last gorgeous day of color here, they say tomorrow will be rainy and cold.... the color this week has been spectacular... just makes you want to paint!

or capture every orange tree in a picture... so we can remember the glow all winter...

We never get tired of this last unified spectacular display of color, texture and variety

It just makes me want to stretch my hands upward and sing praises to my God for His unbelievable talent of beauty :)...

I hope you are enjoying it also... the next big show of color will be in the skies...
we will be enjoying it all winter.... the earth will rest in greys and purples and the sky will take the show ....
God is truly the greatest Artist !!!

Go For a Walk

It was a beautiful Fall day.... after doing what had to be done today... I set out for a walk to clear my head...and enjoy God's art work in this new season .

I came upon this little guy crawling on a lovely oak leaf.... .... How small he is...yet he was on a mission... and his world was just as important as mine....

He turned and we had a little conversation... I took his picture... I am sure he smiled...:)

I then found a rare beauty...a pink Queen Ann's Lace.... I have always wanted to find one... and here it is... really a soft pink... just amazing.... and then I found many colors on leaves...and they looked just like God had used He own watercolors to make the combinations... just wonderful...

With all that inspiration... I sat down to paint... He always inspires me... When life gets too busy and too full..... get out and take a walk... it sure is humbling...and rewarding ...

"How many are your works , O LORD! In Wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
psalm 104:24

Painting

Somewhere I read that An Artist does not put paint on canvas... he puts himself on canvas....

Here is a part of me.... I really need to paint everyday....so putting some sketches on the blog..

will help me do that....

there is something about putting color and shapes and texture on paper that is so rewarding...
and satisfying...
Enjoy the color outside ... the subtle changes... God is amazing with His palette, His light, and His wonderful creation... don't miss it... everyday is special...
enjoy

Back to work

After a long time off the drawing board.... I am back to work... I must catch the last of summer before it is gone...and with these sketches I can do my finished paintings....

While I was at my cousins, who lives on a farm in Maine, we chopped up Echanacia flowers and put them in jars, then filled the jars with vodka... in several months it would be tincture... used by many to ward of colds.... my cousin uses it all the time... I thought it was a bit nasty.... but she get a lot of money for it.....:)....

have you noticed the squirrels are really busy.... I wonder what kind of winter it will be?
a few shore birds... they are going to CT. gallery
and my favorite, the red knot... it will always remind me of my brother...he was the one that told me their story...
it feels good to paint again....
