The Red Knots have arrived in Delaware! .

Red Knots are my favorite shore bird.... Their story of migration is just amazing.. it demonstrates How
Amazing our God is to design such a bird, not bigger than a Robin...but fly s 18,000 miles every year...
Some of these birds have flown the distance to the moon.... in their life time... and amazingly they time their
arrivals to destinations when nature is providing just the right food.... in Delaware..it is horseshoe crab eggs... The horseshoe crab...just so happens to decide to walk on the beach and bury their eggs..just as the Red knots are flying in... it is all just like clock work... I love it!!!
If you can find the book... read, "The Moon Bird".. it is incredible... any way... these are a few of my sketches of Red knots... they don't come to Indiana... but someday I will go to Delaware and watch them fly in... that is on my bucket list!

An Artists life

The Past two weeks... my cousin, Nina has  been super busy helping Lambs come into the world on her farm in Hollis Maine... and of course she sends me pictures everyday... I have tried to get them on paper... this was my best one... I love these little guys.. and will try to do more..Easter was a lovely day.. Sun
came out and it was warm enough for the annual Egg hunt... and we launched the Watercolor Workshop info...and now it is full speed ahead to July.... painting in Maine will be fantastic
And the art class is now onto birds... my favorite.. so we will do them for three great lessons... James just dived in and created a wonderful Canada goose... I love his freedom and eagerness to try
Next class we will draw feathers... so I have to study them my self..and having fun doing it... can't wait to do more
we will learn how to do a bird's nest...and learn about different birds and how they construct their nests... It is all so much fun..and so interesting.. an Artist should know much about what he or she paints...
These are my favorite of all birds... the Red-knots .. They are an endangered species... their story is absolutely incredible. and soon I will tell you the story. I am doing a journal on their journey....
Here is the Red-knot sitting on her eggs in the Tundra... she begins her journey to the Tundra from the tip of South America...
OH.. Chickens... yes...they are birds also..and so fun to paint.. lots of color and texture.. so that
was my two weeks in review..

Together with Tea..

Following my daughter with her Tea Trolley blogs... which I love... I got the special cup that First day of  Spring tea day...
Had a special tea time with my dear friend... she asked me which tea... lets try them all... we actually went through two pots... and much talking... along with our prayers for our kids... something we have kept up all these years... I am so blessed to have a friend like this...

Then on the weekend... we got the troops of tea pots together with their wonderful armor of tea cozies, hand made by the girls. Don't ever think you can serve tea with out one of those cozies... just a waste of tea..... They keep the pots of tea nice and hot for a long time...
And with tea..there is always a wonderful assortment of sweets and savory... it was a Bridal shower... and it was so fun to have our own tables... to talk and visit and enjoy ... Thank you Christina and Heather...!!!

creating... and it is working... I am still into the spring palette .and have just read a great watercolor book, by Jean Martin, a Scottish artist... she does wonderful watercolor flowers....
I am also working on a children s book... and having fun with animal characters... I hope you are enjoying the signs  of Spring  where you are... it is coming ...even though we still grab our  coats on going out...

New Every Morning

Bought some tulips to grace the table this Sunday...and their color just had to be painted... It has been
a treacherous day outside my window with freezing rain....but inside my studio I am painting Spring and enjoying wonderful music..and remembering wonderful words..... that had to be written down...

I read this quote in a blog...and must share it with you here also...

"A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry and see a fine picture everyday of his life in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which
God has implanted in the human soul, Johann Wolfgang VonGoethe
That is what I did this morning.. so refreshing...

Spring Cards

This week I worked on my Spring collection of cards... they have been fun...
I found a stamp that goes perfect with my style..and these are the backs of the cards
I have four series and most of them I have put on my etsy shop...
and some are going to Indianapolis.. to a cute shop in Fountain Square, called Lilly's Soap shop...
Each card has a brown craft envelope, it all looks so Springish....:)
